Praying the Bible: Romans 15:13

Short prayers in the Bible can be used as launching points for our personal prayers.

Below is my prayer from Romans 15:13 where I simply expanded on each phrase in the verse. I hope that this method will be helpful to you.

The God of Hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).

May the God– Father, you are my God and Lord over all. Today I seek Your face and Yours alone.

May the God of hope– You are not the God of despair, nor the God of darkness, but the God of Hope. I long for the hope that only You can give.

May the God of hope fill you– I do not ask for a small portion of what You can give me, or even just a glimpse of it. But I want You to fill me completely, to the brim of my soul.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy– I ask specifically for Your joy to fill me completely. May I not look to others for joy. May my joy not waiver because of the trials that I go through, but may it always be full.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace– Along with Your joy, I ask that You grant me peace. Peace that calms my soul when I am afraid. Peace that overwhelms the problems that I experience. A peace that passes all understanding, made possible by the blood of Christ.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing– Father, my requests mean nothing without faith. I know You are able to provide me with joy and peace. I believe that You are good and that You love me deeply. I believe, but help my unbelief.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power– Lord, I am weak and frail. I need you desperately. I have no strength on my own and apart from Christ I can do nothing.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit– Your Holy Spirit dwells within me, and He is the source of what I ask for today. Your Spirit brings power, confidence and boldness.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound– Father, when you graciously give me good things, You do so with abundance. You are the God of all riches and glory and You freely give above all that I can ask for or even comprehend.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope– Finally, I ask for supernatural hope from the God of Hope Himself. Sometimes my faith fails me, but You never do. I need Your steadfast hope to sustain me.

God of Hope, I ask that Your Spirit fill me with joy, peace, faith, power and hope from on high. In Jesus’ name, amen.
